Black transgender adults rated higher on having these experiences than Black LGB adults, though the difference was not statistically significant. Overall, Black LGBT adults reported being somewhat worried that their sexual orientation or gender identity will affect the quality of health care they received.

While in the workforce, I complied to corporate standards in the workplace to be taken seriously and avoid discrimination. But even so, I accepted my truth and began to live unapologetically as a gay African-American man. One of the hard truths I had to learn — and something many people still refuse to acknowledge — is that the LGBTQ community has always been splintered and separated.

I lived unapologetically as a Black gay man in the 70s. Now I’m aging with pride & dignity.

JUL 2. My inadequacies around relationship stemmed from times when my feelings were disregarded. I learned, having been on the receiving end of emotional trauma, that there are three basic agreements at work in any relationship. Nailing these will help quell the inadequacies and insecurities so many of us experience in our partners, and make way for clear agreements that both or all involved can be comfortable with.
